The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
